Is this course right for me?

This 30-hour computer-based course is designed to equip learners with the essential skills and knowledge for mastering safe industrial operations within control rooms. This dynamic training experience will introduce the critical fundamentals of process safety and plant operations, while also giving hands-on understanding of key industrial equipment.

Learn basic operations techniques needed to manage and monitor industrial systems, as well as being guided though the procedures for safely starting up and shutting down processes. By the end of this programme, learners should have a solid foundation in Control Room Operations.

 

 

  • Life skills, experience and maturity are important
  • Each application is considered on individual merit
  • Learners must be at least 16 years old

This course will cover a range of modules, including:

  • Instrumentation I – Process characteristics
  • Instrumentation II – Basic control concepts
  • Instrumentation III – Multi-element control
  • Fundamentals of plant safety

You will also develop skills including:

  • Active listening
  • Collaboration
  • Critical thinking
  • Decision making
  • Oral communication
  • Problem solving
  • Time management

Learners are able to complete either the full qualification or certain units or elements through the medium of Welsh/bilingually. Visit our Welsh Language in the College page to find out what else is available to you.

  • Continuous assessment during the course
  • Online examination

Following successful completion of this course learners could look to progress to a higher level course at the College, seek an appropriate Apprenticeship or go directly into employment.
